I say it every year, and I mean it every year: thank you so much for sharing this tradition with me. I am humbled--and delighted--that you have made my little open house a part of the Christmas festivities you look forward to. Having a place in another person's Christmas tradition is very special, and I love it. I started this tradition 12 years ago, mostly for me, because I love Christmas and I figured if I was going to make Christmas stuff, I might as well put it on my blog. But over the years, it has grown into something I feel I do for all of us, because we all need a completely cozy, completely safe, completely cheerful Christmas place to go. Whatever is going on elsewhere, it ain't goin' on here.
I have to give special thanks this year to Mr. Wonderful, who has helped me pull this off. It was close, y'all. I put the finishing touches on this year's celebration last week. Never in 12 years have I been so late. He cheered me on, brought me brownies, and kept our ever-so-helpful kittens out of my way while I was hunched over my craft table with tweezers and a glue stick for hours on end.
Tomorrow I'll have a bonus post for you with some information about the supplies I used to make these ornaments and some helpful tips. Again, thank you for being here, thank you for leaving lovely comments and anniversary wishes, and thank you for making me a part of your Christmas. The theme for next year is chosen, one project is already done, and I'm already excited!
As always, from our home to yours, MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Cute picture of the girls at the end! I love how you attached your 12 Days pieces to the garland on the stair rail. It looks so festive, Honeybee. Merry Christmas, Marilyn!
DeleteTruly an inspiration and a delight!! I too was a paper crafter before I returned to my deep dive into the stitchy world. Your open house this year was so darn cool! Makes me itchy to try to blend in a few PaperCrafts into my hobby time. I have over the years gone back and read every one of your Christmas Open House series. What a joy! And a dangerous thing!! … as I found myself one year so excited about the Hometown Holiday stitches you did that I went out and bought all 24 patterns!! I’m slowly making my way through them and have been collecting fun little trinkets I can use for the town display. Wish me luck that I can get them all done before the good lord calls me home! :-). I hope you have a wonderful holiday season. Thanks again for all you generous sharings!
ReplyDeleteJulie, I'm so glad you're enjoying Christmas here! Merry Christmas and Happy Stitching!
DeleteMerry Christmas to you, Mr Wonderful and the girls! Your Christmas Open House is a must-see every year! Carol Stitching Dreams's ornament tree and your Open House will surely put anyone in the Christmas mood! Thank you, HB🎄🎁😊
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas, Shelly!
DeleteWhat a wonderful thing you do for all of us. I so enjoy seeing your place all decorated. It is truly lovely. Have your little furbabies messed with any of the decorations? My cats have always tend to ignore mine, except they like rubbing their faces against the tree branches.
ReplyDeleteThat's about how they are, just an occasional nibble on the tree but otherwise very good.
DeleteHi Honeybee, firstly many congratulations to you and Mr Wonderful on your recent wedding anniversary, and how happy I am to be able to visit again. I've been enjoying your daily posts, such a wonderful idea I love your interpretation. I'm a quilter and was so pleased to see that the plaids and embellishments are all straight and symmetrical - can't abide wonky stripes and checks Poirot could be my middle name (I trust you know whom I refer to). What a fabulous achievement the garland is, I was waiting for the lords a leaping beause I liked the look of the felt one on Etsy, and I am not disappointed, definitely a touch of Mr Darcy about yours, and your beautiful dancing lady, such a pretty face, and her earrings are a perfect touch. I can't choose any one days decoration as more outstanding than any other - but - that ring! Honeybee thank you so much for once more sharing a beautiful gift at this time of year, and I hope the furry helpers weren't too miffed when the set was removed from the bannister to somewhere less tempting. I wondered if you also managed an Open House for the troops this year? I hope that you and Mr Wonderful have a joyous holiday time surrounded with peace, love, and many blessings. Elaine in UK
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Elaine! And thank you for noticing my efforts to align the plaids! (I have a Poirot streak in my personality!) 😆
DeleteI didn't do an open house this year. Mr. Wonderful is now in a different office where he doesn't supervise troops, but I did decorate the office Christmas tree!😊
I hope you and yours have a wonderful Christmas!
I really enjoyed your open house this year!! Every year is phenomenal and cross stitch will always hold a place in my heart. But wow -- the paper ornaments are absolutely wonderful. Thank you for sharing your creativity. ;)
ReplyDeleteYour kitties are so cute. Give them a couple of scritches for me.
