Rabbits in the Round: Ombre Bunnies Color Conversion

I've had this color conversion in my head since I first saw Rabbits in the Round last spring and I finally got it done! I stitched my version on 28 ct. green linen (I think it's called Rosemary, but I don't think it's available anymore), which made it quite a bit larger than the petite, over-one model. Here are my other changes:

Bunnies (light to dark): Cosmo 713, 714 715, 716; vines: CC Weeping Willow; flowers: GAST Buttercrunch; berries: CC Smoke

If you like color conversions, click on the tab at the top of the page (or on the label below this post) to see all of mine. They're one of my favorite things about stitching.

I am behind on projects I wanted to stitch, behind on blog reading, behind on finishing... just generally behind on anything stitching-related. But I'm trying not to put pressure on myself about any of that, because stitching and all its associated pursuits should be a respite and not a source of worry. Right? Right.

So I'm off to prep a couple of new projects. Hope you're all well and contentedly stitching away. Thanks for the well-wishes for my first shot. I'm happy to report no side effects. Second shot is in two weeks.

Happy Stitching, y'all.

Get in, y'all. We're doin' spring.

I am ignoring the piles of snow left around, and the fact that it can snow here at any time for the next two months, and I'm doin' spring. Pardon the nerd talk, but March 1st marks the beginning of meteorological spring (astronomical spring begins in a few weeks), and I am definitely okay with that. For the first time ever, I put out my spring decor before the end of February, and although I had one little winter project left to stitch, I put it aside and jumped to spring. (If we have a spring snow storm, I may pull it out and stitch it up.)

Y'all know that we usually bake from scratch around here, but I am far from a baking snob. Sometimes you need emergency cookies, and there is nothing faster than ready-to-bake cookies, a container of frosting, and some sprinkles. Boom! Emergency Spring Cookies! My favorite combo is sugar cookies with lemon frosting, but try anything. There's no way to mess these up.

The sweet, sleepy baby bunny is available here. And to add to your spring stitching stash, here are a few freebies:

Spring Robin

Easter Basket

Easter Delivery

I have Huckleberry Farm all ready for my first stitches. I don't have a deadline for this project. I just want to stitch it and enjoy it. The pile of threads is the latest addition to my Cosmo collection, and the spring mini lights are from Hobby Lobby.

Hope your weather is warming up nicely. Ours has been so lovely. Tomorrow will be our first open windows day since last fall and I'm so looking forward to it. Fresh air wafting through the house just makes me happy.

Happy Spring, and Happy Stitching!

Blustery Easter Greetings!

Happy Easter, y'all! I hope the Easter Bunny found all of you!

Our Easter Sunday began at 6 a.m. with thunderstorms and hail! It's been cold and blustery and snow flurry-y all day. We've been worshipping at home since mid-March, so after our service and lunch, I made some piping hot Percolator Punch and got to work in my sewing room. Oh my stars. Y'all. The framing and finishing that has piled up. I've been wanting to work on it for some time but I've found it so difficult to settle to it. I enjoy it, but at the same time, for me it's very absorbing and intensive and I just haven't felt settled enough to devote that kind of focus to it. Four weeks into lockdown, I finally feel like I can tackle the pile. I guess it has just taken me this long to adjust to this "new normal."

For my first framing project, I pulled out this very old Brooke Nolan finish from the March/April 2010 issue of Just Cross Stitch magazine. It's stitched on 28 ct. Water Lily with the recommended DMC. I am completely dotty about hats of all kinds and have... I don't know how many I have. Forty or fifty? Most of them are "church hats" of varying degrees of fancy, so when I saw this adorable design and everybody wearing their Easter bonnets, I had to stitch it (and then fail to frame it for an embarrassingly long time).

Look at this sassy ladybug. She is wearing that hat.

Isn't that the most cheerful design? I thought it was perfect for this cold, blustery, stay-at-home Easter day. My own real little Easter bunny, Mr. Bun, was in his place as usual.

I have more stuff to share this week, so if you need a break from the news you're always most welcome to drop in here and see what we're up to. As always, thank you for all your kind comments. We'll get through this.

Spring is here, and it brought freebies!

Hello, everybody! Here's my finish of the freebie from The Drawn Thread I linked to in my last post. I love it... so bright and cheerful. I stitched mine on 28 ct. mushroom evenweave with Caron Wildflowers in Daffodil, Dark Shadows, Guacamole, Iris, Ivy, and Snow White. Look at these sweet little bees!

Even though spring arrived with snow (and thunderstorms and hail!), I put out my wee birds and bunnies anyway.

In my last post I promised another freebie for you and you can find it here. It's a lovely spring teacup in a delicate pink, which color the Italian designer describes as "like the life we will have tomorrow." In the midst of her country's unimaginable hardship, she still finds spring beautiful. What can I say?

In my wanderings around the interwebs over the last few days, I've discovered that the freebie from The Drawn Thread I posted is part of a group effort by designers to create "be well and stitch" freebies to encourage stitchers to both stay home and stitch, and also to purchase fabric and threads from their local shops to help them stay afloat during this crisis. I think it's a wonderful, wonderful idea. I have a few to share with you, but since I'm not on Facebook or Instagram, I'm sure I've missed some.

Summer House Stitche Works

Notforgotten Farm

Heartstring Samplery

The Blue Flower

If you have Facebook or Instagram and want to go on your own search, look for #bewellandstitch. If I read correctly, I think shops will soon be getting an info packet on these designs, so keep an eye on your favorite shop!

Well, now. Y'all have oodles of new freebies to work on so that oughta keep everybody in the house and out of trouble for a while.

Take care of yourselves, and Happy Stitching!

Spring Bunny Wreath

I made up these variations of Just Nan's Honey Bunny almost five years ago, and every spring since then I've been putting them in my spring basket display, but they're so small they end up getting a bit lost. I decided to make a little wreath of spring grass and daisies for them.

For the wreath:

10" foam wreath form
eyelash yarn in spring green (two skeins, if skeins are small)
daisy chain trim (Jo Ann Fabrics)
yellow pearl head pins
*patience*

Wrapping the wreath takes forever because in order to achieve maximum fluffiness, you have to wrap it tightly. It's a pretty mindless task, so put on your favorite movie or show and just sit and wrap. And wrap. And wrap. And wrap. (It will take you longer than one movie.) When you have to stop, just pin the yarn to keep it nice and tight and hold your place.

I've had this daisy chain trim for so long I don't remember where I got it, but I have seen it at Jo Ann Fabrics recently. (Super fluffy wreath!)

Cut the daisies apart and pin them to the wreath. Decorate with your favorite spring critters, or perhaps some pretty colored eggs, hidden in the grass. (The daisy ribbon is from AC Moore.)

My color choices for these bunnies can be found in this post.

Spring Kitties

I finally have a little stitching to show! This is my "re-set project" that I mentioned a few days ago, a cute spring freebie available here. My version of Pussy Willow Egg is stitched on a scrap of 28 ct. Provence Lavender linen. The kitties are stitched with Wisper 101 to make them fuzzy, and the egg is stitched with Classic Colorworks Snips & Snails, for an Easter eggy look.

A Visit From the Easter Bunny!

I whipped up this sweet little freebie on Saturday. It's stitched with GAST Toasted Barley, a smidgeon of white for the cotton tail, and Caron Wildflowers in Easter Egg (naturally!).

Hope the Easter Bunny brings you something sweet!

Saturday Sampler

Tiger Lily is recovering from her annual winter ear infection. I'm happy to report she's feeling much better after Thursday's trip to the vet, and she's being such a good girl getting her ear drops twice a day.

We had a very warm week and spring is on the way!

More stash has found its way to my house... the new LHN design and some white and red Newport linen ornament cuts that I thought would be cute for Christmas ornaments.

Super cute wood fox buttons from Jo-Ann Fabrics.

Spring finishing goodies and some pink gingham linen. Those pretty flowery buttons are also from Jo-Ann's.

And finally, my triumph of the shopping trip: Adorable ALERT! Just look at this pin cushion, y'all!

This is also from Jo-Ann's and it was 30% off. Couldn't pass it up!
