Mama and Babies

These little finishes are the last of the series by Cathy Jean of Victoria Sampler. I've stitched them all: the Woodland Babies, the Woodland Birdies, and the Farmyard Babies. As with the other Farmyard Babies, I stitched them on grass instead of snow for a springtime look.

These, along with the other Farmyard Babies, will probably end up as a wall-hanging of some sort, as will the Woodland set of babies and birds. I really enjoyed stitching all of these quick, colorful, cheerful little critters, and I'm a bit sad to come to the end of the series (the designer has retired). But it does make way for me to take up a new one. I'm dedicating the month of April to finishing up a couple of my larger WIPs, so I can justify some new starts.

Stay tuned, and Happy Stitching!

  2. They are very cute, Honeybee. I like how you gave them grass instead of snow to walk on. Where did you get your tiny colored buttons? I look forward to seeing the progress you make on your WIPs during April.

    1. Robin, I've found them at every craft store--Hobby Lobby, Jo Ann's, Michael's, etc. Each store carries different brands and different color combinations, and by picking them up whenever I see them I've managed to collect them in a wide array of colors. They really are a perfect size for small finishes.

    2. Thanks for the information, Honeybee! Would you mind telling me what size? I know I could eyeball them, but I don't do well with judging sizes.

    3. I think they're 6mm. I don't have any in the original packages so I'm not absolutely positive, but I think that's what they are.

  3. How sweet! I looked at your Woodland Birdies and love the pileated woodpecker! Never thought I'd see that bird in cross stitch but he's magnificent.
