I finally got a chance to go exploring all by myself. This wasn't the kind of looking around you do in a new place when you're trying to find all the things you need. This was the kind of looking around you do in a new place when you're trying to find New Happy Places. This was "explorin'." I'm happy to report the expedition was a success, and I returned with spoils.
Hobby Lobby never disappoints. I found this pretty paperboard box that I'm now using to hold floss for several summer projects at a time.
I found a quilt shop, and I was absolutely thrilled to discover they carry Cosmo embroidery thread! I have never, ever been able to walk into a shop and buy Cosmo, and now I can. Their variegated threads are just beautiful. I restrained myself and only chose a few fall colors, but I intend to build my Cosmo stash as quickly as possible!
I also found a local craft store that's sort of a cross between a big box craft store, an old Ben Franklin's (remember those?), and a dollar store. I wasn't sure it was my kinda place at first, but then I found the fat quarters. Oh my. Oodles and oodles and oodles of lovely fat quarters. I brought home a few.
I was delighted with my finds. I've now got my route figured out, and can do a "craft crawl" in a nice, efficient loop that also includes my new LNS. There are also corn dogs on my route, so it's pretty awesome. I think I need to do this about once a month. For mental health purposes.
Maybe sometimes twice a month. Depending on how things are going...
Wow! How lucky are you to have such great “supply” stores in your area! I would have this on my once a week route. You found some great things. Love the floss. Great fall colors. Have fun with all your finds.
ReplyDeleteOh Honeybee, I am glad you went explorin' and what incredible finds you came home with. Very cool looking box, lovely fat quarters and some yummy threads. How do you like stitching with the Cosmos threads? Thanks for the chuckle about the "craft crawl" that includes your new LNS. Hmm, corn dogs! Is there ice cream on the route?
ReplyDeleteYes! :O)
DeleteOh my! I think I would be craft crawlin' once a week!
DeletePS I do remember the Ben Franklin stores. Their various craft sections couldn't be beat. The only thing missing was a place to sit and play!
ReplyDeleteI have never heard of Cosmo threads. The colors are so pretty. I may need to look into starting a little stash of those. 😊
ReplyDeleteLOL :) I am so happy you found some new happy places & the corn dogs sound good too :)
ReplyDeleteHow fun to have such a great "craft crawl" and those sound like wonderful "Happy Places"! It sounds like you're starting to really settle in to your new area! You found some great things - I love the fabrics and those beautiful flosses (I'll need to check those out!) I remember Ben Franklin stores too, so much fun to just look around.
ReplyDeleteThis all sounds great, how wonderful to have an LNS. x
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a successful Explorin' time.
ReplyDeleteYou brought home some great goodies.

How wonderful that you have found a "craft crawl". We never had Ben Franklin stores here on Long Island, but we had others that were similar. I miss them.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful finds. I do remember the Ben Franklin stores, I worked at one for several years in California.
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful that you found some happy places. I've never heard of Cosmo threads. The colors you picked are lovely. Yes, I remember the Ben Franklin stores.
